Project Superintendent

LOCATION: Greater D.C. area

Petillo, a premier heavy civil site and highway construction company, servicing the northeastern US market, seeks a Project Superintendent in the Greater D.C. Area

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have prior Site Development or Heavy/Highway experience.
  • Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with the terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-starter highly motivated.
  • Basic computer knowledge for day to day communication. Prior HCSS Heavy Job experience preferred.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of layout as well as the Trimble GPS system.

Typical Job Functions

Planning and Executing

  • Prepare, maintain and execute a two-week look ahead/ four-week forecast that is in line with overall project schedule.
  • Manage foreman(s), subcontractor(s) productivity to meet the lookahead/ forecast.
  • Organize and Schedule Deliveries in accordance with the lookahead/ forecast.
  • Prepare detailed daily schedule for the following day to the project manager and operations.
  • Attend any and all project meetings at home office and job site as required.
  • When required coordinate inspections with third party consultants and/or local code enforcement.

Safety

  • Be familiar with all Job Safety Requirements – HASP/Accident Reporting.
  • Enforce Company and Client Safety protocols including preparation and submission of JHA.
  • Conduct Tool Box Talks and Safety Meetings.

Reporting and Tracking

  • Maintain daily diary noting significant events at the project and overall scope performed. Accurately report scope, productions, labor and equipment hours at a cost code/budget level.  
  • Monitor on site production, evaluate work performance of site team and eliminate re-work.
  • Review Labor and Equipment Costs and look for improvements.
  • Review critical material yields with Project Manager.
  • Plan jobsites to run cost efficiently.  Manage the work to anticipate the impact of weather events.
