Heavy Equipment Lube Technician

LOCATION: Flanders, New Jersey

Lube Technicians are entrusted with the responsibility of traveling to active construction job sites daily and safely performing all aspects of preventative maintenance on a variety of construction equipment; including but not limited to excavators, dozers, haul trucks, graders, tractors and wheel loaders. Responsibilities related to this roll revolve around the routine changing of fluids and filters for all type’s components, lubricating/greasing components, and properly obtaining fluid samples for lab analysis.

To be successful in this position you should have a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools applicable to the position and the desire to learn. You should possess a strong sense of urgency and desire to provide superior workmanship. The ability to take direction and work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drain and replace all types of fluids and filters, inspect all fluid levels and top off as needed
  • Properly obtain and label oil samples from each component as required.
  • Determine necessary parts, materials, and tooling needed to perform the PM’s assignments.
  • Follow steps outlined in maintenance manuals.
  • Perform and complete machine inspections and communicate any issues with PM management staff.
  • Maintain the service vehicle and any specialty tooling, so as to keep it in safe, clean and in good operating order.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Exercise safe work practices to in observance of the company’s safety goals and protocols.
  • Manage time effectively to maximize productivity and minimize machine downtime.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Prior experience working in the diesel or heavy equipment industry as a technician in some regard.
  • Valid class B CDL (or Class A) and the ability to maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work well independently or with others in a team environment.
  • Must be reliable, honest, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to follow instructions; read and understand operators and repair manuals.
  • Must have some ‘basic’ computer applications skills, including email, iPad applications, and basic internet browsing.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and communicate technical information.
  • Ability to write work order notes and details that effectively communicate the work that was completed
